What age should a child have a mobile phone?
A child should have a phone when they need one. So many people are saying that children under a certain age shouldn’t have a mobile phone. Some of these people aren’t even parents, and some of them are parents (or even grandparents) who don’t realise that some children might actually need their own phone to keep in contact their parent(s), or vice versa, when they’re away from home. My son’s had one since he was 8 because I felt that he needed it. Sometimes he would go and stay with his dad and I couldn’t get in touch with him as his dad didn’t always have a phone. I felt better knowing that he had his own phone so that I could phone him at any time, and so that he could contact me if he wanted to come home early (or for any other reason). He takes the bus by himself too, so I feel that it’s sensible for him to carry a phone with him so that he can call me if he needs me.
