What age group would be considered best for understanding the Diary of Anne Frank?

I do not believe The Diary of Anne Frank to be the best reading choice for 4rth grade. It deals with issues a little deep for them. I would wait until at least 6th grade, probably high school for that. That said, I believe kids should be able to read whatever they want to, so if the class really really wants to read it I would say go for it. But chances are in 4rth grade they don’t even really want to read that book anyway. I never read “among the hidden”.

I think 12 (grade 7) would be an appropiate age for reading The Diary Of Anne Frank. I tried reading it when i was in grade 4 and i didnt really understand what was going on.
