At 4 they are allowed into primary school, at 5 they have to go. Mostly they go for a few mornings (or just afternoons,) before they are 4, and then, from their birthday on they will go most of the week. But at their 5th birthday they have to go, full-time. Mostly kids go to a play group, once or twice a week before they go to school, so your daughter in law can look for that too. Many children are shy before they go to school, teachers are used to that and most teachers can handle it very good. If she is extremely shy, her mother should talk it over with a doctor, (like her GP) so she can be send on to someone to help her over the worst of the problems. I live too far from Breda to recommend any particular school. Added: If your daughter in law is shy and not your grand daughter, let the child play outside and ask the slightly older kids where they go to school. That is mostly the nearest school, likely to be good, if she lives in a good neighbourhood.
