What age can i get my new kittens neutered?
They can be safely spayed or neutered once they reach 2.5 lbs (3 months). However, not all vets are comfortable or capable of doing the procedure when they are that tiny. Those vets will tell you that it cannot safely be done until 6 months. Basically, you can get it done at the age that your vet will do it. Keep the following in mind: Females can go into heat and get pregnant at 4 months of age. Spayed females run much lower risks of certain cancers, but the protection is highest if they are spayed BEFORE their first heat cycle. The protection is still good if it’s done before their second, but isn’t as high. Unneutered males will spray urine to mark their territory after they reach puberty. Once they start doing this, they don’t always stop once they’re neutered.
