What age can a male dog impregnate?
Male dogs can reach sexual maturity as young as 4 months and be able to impregnate a female. This varies dog to dog and some aren’t sexually mature until close to a year. There are a few behaviors that can indicate your dog has reached sexual maturity or is close to it, such as lifting a leg to urinate or showing unusual interest in intact females, though these aren’t always accurate. Check with your vet to know when your dog is sexually mature if you’re waiting to breed, or get him fixed as soon as your vet recommends to avoid unwanted puppies.
