What affects has Title IX had on the University of Wyoming?
At the University of Wyoming we have to have an equal percent of male and female athletes according to the percent of male and female students attending the University. The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) allows a 3% to 5% leeway on these percentages. At the University of Wyoming there currently is 51% female attendance and 49 % male attendance. The current percentage of male and females athletes at the University of Wyoming is 49% female and 51% male, which fulfills the requirements of the OCR. The OCR also states that funding has to be equal to the percentage of men and women at the University. So the University of Wyoming must provide 51% of their athletic funding to female athletes.
