What affect did world war one have one relations between men and women?
One would think the relationship between men and woman would improve after war time , but it didn’t. Woman were quite satisfied with their new found independence yet the men were not. The man still wanted the (June Cleaver) wife to serve him and jump at his beckon call. The woman on the other hand wasn’t so easily swayed to resettle back into their kitchens. Many had grown very accustomed to the two paycheck family life. Some had even held management positions with companies and grew accustomed to taking charge now. They were in control of their own wallets and no longer had to ask or beg their husbands for spending money. Men came home to a whole new world filled with head strong woman still wanting to be in charge. Woman were no longer accustomed to asking their husbands for the car keys and explaining where they are going and why and when they will be back and who they are with.
