A huge advantage is that Selkie IT requires no pre-installation of any kind. You just put the bootable CD into the CD-Rom drive of the old or broken computer and begin. Windows does not have to function in any way, shape or form in order for Selkie IT to work. Additionally, Selkie works for both migration and rescuing files off of a non-working computer. So if Windows is running slow – or not running at all – there is nothing to worry about. Selkie IT bypasses Windows altogether. It runs off of a Live CD so Windows doesn’t even have to operate.
