What advantages does PADnet+ have over low cost handheld Doppler Ultrasound devices?
Handheld Doppler Ultrasound devices are useful in certain baseline diagnostic tests, such as Ankle-Brachial Indices (ABI’s). However, those that do not produce hardcopy reports or produce a waveform are considered part of the patient’s physical exam and therefore do not meet the medical necessity study guidelines of most payers. Also if this data is not stored in a computerized database it is of limited usefulness in communicating with patient electronic medical records.
