What advantages do ISOLOSS NV materials offer over standard black-faced materials in an environment of radiant heat exposure?
E-A-R subjected NV-3534S damping sheet to a 900-watt infrared lamp. After a half hours exposure to temperatures as high as 320F, the heat-reflecting facing kept the temperature of the NV urethane below 120F and of the steel substrate below 100F. The materials integrity remained intact. Under the same test procedures, a black-faced damping sheet absorbed heat, causing the facing to reach temperatures as high as 380F and allowing the steel substrates temperature (270F) actually to exceed the 250F ambient temperature. Moreover, the materials pressure-sensitive adhesive backing essentially melted and the bond to the substrate failed. This test is outlined in our Engineers Notebook EN-503.
