To further promote murals in areas in which graffiti incidents are particularly high, it is proposed that the Chief Building Official (CBO), who oversees the administration of the Permanent Signs on Private Property By-law, and the General Manager (GM) of Planning & Growth Management, who oversees the administration of the Signs on City Roads By-law, be delegated the authority to approve murals on structures on private property and within the roadway, respectively, that are not already captured through existing regulations. As part of the delegation, certain criteria must be met. Public Works will assist the CBO and the GM by coordinating the mural requests and making recommendations to them accordingly.
