What actual nursing diagnosis can i formulate for a patient with partial intestinal obstruction?
If you’re doing a Care Plan & need to deal with your patient’s problems, try using the ones dealing with these areas: Alteration in Nutrition related to disease process. Goal- Patient will receive optimal nutritional intake as long as possible. (Any patient with intestinal obstruction is going to have nutritional problems & decreased food intake, but you need to find the cause of the obstruction which could be from many diseases from adhesion’s to cancerous growth.). You also can use Alteration in Bowel Function. Goal- Patient, PCP,HHA, Fam will report any unusual S&S to RN. Approach- Implement measures to control diarrhea if needed. Also Alteration in Coping Mechanism Related to Loss of Control over his life (Coping really can be used for most patients undergoing medical problems.) Goal-Patient will cope at maximal potential/Patient will express/verbalize feelings.
