What actions does the CFIA plan to contain EAB in Southwestern Ontario?
The CFIA will meet with its Science Committee to analyze survey and research data and will subsequently make decisions on what further steps need to be taken to control EAB in Canada. EAB currently only infests a relatively small part of Canada and we must slow its spread to other areas of eastern Canada where ash are common and important trees. This will be achieved through controlling the natural movement of EAB, and regulating the movement of material that can transport EAB to new areas.
