What Actions Do Hotel Operators / Managers Need To Take?
Current hotel operators who have already obtained hotel licences under the previous Hotel Act B.E. 2478 need not worry as they will remain licence holders under the new Hotel Act. Their licences will remain valid and they will be able to continue operating their business until the licences expire. Serviced apartment and guesthouse operators that provide accommodation for less than one month need to apply for a hotel licence. The deadline for this is 1 year from the Act coming into effect (by 12 May 2006). All hotel managers who wish to continue managing a hotel, or who will be appointed to manage a hotel, must notify the authorities in person within 30 days from the date of the Act coming into effect (by 10 June 2005). If they do this they will qualify for an exemption from the new requirement to have the specific qualifications defined in the Act.
