What action is the Food Standards Agency taking?

0

The Food Standards Agency has written to the manufacturers of all samples that either contained colours above the maximum levels or which contained unlabelled colours, to make them aware of the results. The Agency is working with local authorities to ensure that the law on colours in soft drinks is fully observed. The manufacturers of 6 out of the 8 samples have taken action where required to reformulate or relabel their products to ensure that they comply with the legislation. The 2 products originating from Spain are being followed up by the Spanish Authorities. The Agency considers that people should be fully informed about the presence of ingredients in food, and is pressing for all ingredients, including all additives, to be indicated on food labels. This is part of the Agency’s Food Labelling Action Plan.
