WHAT ACTION CAN PEOPLE TAKE AGAINST THE PROSECUTION OF PREGNANT WOMEN FOR DRUG USE DURING PREGNANCY?
RESEARCH! Find out about access to drug and reproductive health services in your community! If it is inadequate write a letter to your editor and let you community know. You can also report your findings to local community group meetings. Getting drug treatment should be as easy as getting a hamburger at McDonalds. Not sure what to ask? NAPW can provide a sample of questions that will give you the information you are looking for. WRITE! Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper! Educating the public through the media is very effective. When people see that members of their own community do not support the prosecution of pregnant women, they may re-evaluate their views. Even if you are not published, newspapers notice how many letters they get on an issue, which influences what kind of stories they publish. Write short 2-3 sentence letters and write often.
