What Abbott & Costello movies should I get my grandpa for Christmas?
I love Bud & Lou! I’ve collected just about all their movies over the years, but if I had to pick out my favorites, I’d go with: – Abbott & Costello Meet The Killer – Bud & Lou work at a hotel and Lou is framed for the murder of a famous trial lawyer; I don’t think they do any of their famous routines, but there’s lots of their trademark wordplay and plenty of Lou’s slapstick. – In Society – Plumbers Bud & Lou get mixed up with high society garden party and foil an art theft, doing the “Susquehanna Hat Company” routine along the way. – Who Done It? – Aspiring radio show writers Bud & Lou get mixed up in a real murder mystery; lots of great gags, including the “Alexander-2222” telephone bit – Hit the Ice – Bud & Lou get mistaken for bank robbers and have to catch the real crooks to clear themselves; again, lots of great gags, including the “teller in the bank” routine and the handkerchief gag (“you stand on one end, I’ll stand on the other, and I bet you can’t hit me!”) – Hold That Ghos
