What A levels are best to take to become a forensic psychologist?
I have a BSc in Forensic Psychology and before that I did an Access to Social Science course. After having done the degree, I would say that having a decent qualification in maths would help, as well as psychology, sociology, anthropology and perhaps social policy. If you can do anything in criminology, that would also be a big bonus. We covered subjects in which social science was included, such as why people take drugs (sociology background to their environment, etc). Anthropology looks at rites of passage and various customs in cultures and a lot of crime such as drug abuse, shoplifting, etc occurs (but not always) amongst similar like-minded communities and is almost a ‘normal’ rite of passage for some, which is why I believe anthropology would help. Also, there is a LOT of research in forensic psychology and any experience in research methods would be greatly beneficial.
