What 2008 –2010 Category 1 activity options are most friendly to rural GPs?
The following activities are particularly suited to distance education needs of rural GPs: • individual GP ALM (including an ALM based on writing an article published in a peer-reviewed journal) • individual GP clinical audit • evidence based medicine (EBM) journal club (using the teleconference option) • learning plan (recommended for the beginning of a triennium) • rapid ‘plan, do study, act’ (PDSA) cycle (at least one other participant needs to be involved in the PDSA such as a nurse or receptionist) • small group learning (conducted by teleconference or online) • online learning, eg. gplearning, Australian Family Physician Clinical challenge.
