“I Write the Songs” by Bruce Johnson Released by Manilow in 1975, the song didn’t “top the charts” until January of 1976. This wasn’t it’s first appearance though, as it was previously recorded by David Cassidy. Even though a Beach Boy wrote it, they never recorded it.
