There is a real drive to change services and provision following this consultation. Even if some of the changes are not approved by the Department of Health, there is money available to move some services out of hospital and into the community, and to bolster that community provision. Heart of Birmingham Teaching PCT already has a service offering orthopaedic diagnostics in the community, and there are new health centres already under construction in various parts of Sandwell and the Heart of Birmingham. This consultation is the chance for patients and the public to let us know their views on the proposals we have made.
