Weve assembled the beacon described in the FIRST documentation, but it doesn seem to work. Got any ideas?
The documentation included in the kit and the document “Infrared_Beacon_Wiring_Diagram.pdf, dated 1-16-04, on FIRST’s web site has an error in the design. You need to switch pins 2 and 3 of the MOSFET labeled Q1. Here’s a known good beacon schematic. The location of the pins is documented in page 8 of the IRL3103 data sheet. Update: The latest document on FIRSTs web site, dated 1-27-04, is correct. Here’s a local copy.
