Fresh off of securing the new GOL charter, which commences June 12, from Sao Paulo, Brazil, Commissioner of Tourism will next turn his attention to securing another South American Airline, this time Panama’s Copa Airlines. No official discussions have taken place yet to detail the service, but meetings between Copa and the Island Government should be held sometime soon. Adding Copa to St. Maarten’s fleet of airlines would further strengthen the position of the destination as the rapidly growing South American market. St. Maarten’s interest comes at a good time as Copa Airlines is looking for growth by adding new destinations and increased flight frequency.
