Were Winston Churchill, Margaret Thatcher and Franklin Roosevelt fluent only in English?
Winston Churchill spoke a version of French and actually spoke to the people of France on the BBC following the fall of France in c1940. She is known to dislike the Germans and may therefore have prefered speaking French. Franklin D Roosevelt – not sure if he could speak French or any other language apart from the high quality of American English which he employed to excellent effect.
