Yes. In order to broaden and deepen civil society engagement in the process, NGLS organized in cooperation with the UN Millennium Campaign a global online civil society consultation for the MDG Summit in advance of the Hearings. The consultation was designed to enable contributors to build on the analysis and recommendations of the Secretary-General’s comprehensive report for the Summit. Over 160 international, national and local civil society organizations representing millions of people from around the world contributed to this process. NGLS prepared a compilation report of these contributions entitled Toward a Global MDG Breakthrough Plan, which was synthesized into an executive summary that was distributed to all Member States as a Conference Room Paper during the Hearings. The main recommendations contained in the consultation report focus on: 1. A Breakthrough Plan for Goal 8 2. A Breakthrough Plan for New Development Paths 3.
