Were there any premenitions about the maiden voyage?
Many people were said to have “felt” the doom of the ship. See internal link, “Some Missed the Boat” from the book Titanic: The Extraordinary Story of the “Unsinkable” Ship, by Geoff Tibballs. However, one of the most prophetic tales was a novel entitled Futility, (or the Wreck of a Titan, by Morgan Robertson. It was written 14 years prior to Titanic’s maiden voyage (Tibballs 8)! It tells about how a huge British oceanliner named Titan is struck by an iceberg on it’s maiden voyage from Southampton to New York in April (Tibballs 8). The boat sinks in the North Atlantic and of the 2,000 people on board only 13 survive because of a shortage of lifeboats (Tibballs 8). What an eerie coincidence!
