At Bletchley Park the first programmable electronic computer was built to help crack the Enigma code of the Germans. This computer called ‘Colossus’ is considered to be the father of all modern day computers. And without it the everyday life of people today would be vastly different. The computer that you are sat in front off while reading this would not be here, the TV you sit and watch would be of a vastly inferior picture quality with possibly only 3 or 4 channels, aircraft would be slower and there would many flights cancelled because of fog and bad weather as the navigation equipment would be highly inaccurate, your washing machine would be more labour intensive and there would be no mobile phones for you to chat and text, no computer games, cars would be less efficient burning more fuel making global worming worse, and if you think weather forecasting is bad today without the modelling of computers it would be far far worse.
