The game was the home opener for the Cowboys’ billion-dollar new stadium, and the announced crowd of 105,121 was treated to a game with eight lead changes, four turnovers and a last-second field goal to win it. With a clock-eating drive in the fourth quarter, it appeared the Dallas Cowboys would win the game when Felix Jones scored on a 7 yard run with just 3:40 left. But the Giants were able to march nearly the length of the field in the final three and a half minutes, going 2-for-2 on third down and kicking the game-winning field goal as time expired. NFL Diary: New York Giants 33, Dallas Cowboys 31 The Journal provides minute-by-minute analysis of tonight’s NFL game as the New York Giants defeated Dallas Cowboys 33-31 in Arlington, Texas. For the Giants, they spoiled the Cowboys’ big day by capitalizing on Dallas’s mistakes and making the plays when they needed them. Big day for Mario Manningham, who carried the team. As for the stadium, Jerry Jones didn’t get his win, but he got pretty much everything else he could have asked for

This was supposed to be the Cowboys’ night, the home team’s party celebrating the official opening of an extravagant new stadium. The New York Giants refused to cooperate. Kicker Lawrence Tynes said they didn’t want to be the Cowboys’ “homecoming fodder.” “That was our mantra all week,” said Tynes, who kicked a 37-yard field goal as time expired to give the Giants’ a 33-31 victory over Dallas on Sunday. “It was kind of a slap in our face.” In the game’s immediate aftermath, when emotions were still raw, the Giants exulted on their march to the locker room.
