It depends on how old you were and your attitudes. I was a teenager in the 1960s, and the world was changing from the dry unexciting 1950s to the vibrant and exciting 1960s. Perople had and expressed emotions on everything, fromt he war to social issue to sexuality. Art stopped being traditional and began being modern. People were less prudish and more open. Many old attitudes changed, to some degree because it was time, and to some degree pushed on by the Kennedy assassination and the Vietnam war. So for me, it was a time of discovery, achievement, and fascination. If you were older and comfortable with the 1950s and the old way of doing things, then the 1960s were a threat to your beliefs and existence. Those years would have been upsetting because all your beliefs about what was normal were being turned upside down.
