Switzerand had a free and democratic vote on the issue and the government accepted the majority vote. That is what democracy is about. There is no perfect system that suits every circumstance and every individual. Giving in to the fear of a threat is weakness. A threat is often worse than reality, a condition that is known and used by many people, from chess players to ambassadors to local military commanders prime ministers and presidents and chiefs of the general staff, and children in school playgrounds who expect sweets or favours from others because of their ability to maintain a fear of actions which however might not actually be within the child’s ability to perform.
