Were people aware of the possibilities and benefits associated with technology in education?
As technology became more abundant, educators everywhere began to notice of the benefits of implementing technology into education. Many states, including Texas, developed Long Range Plans for Technology that explained “how education, technology, and the economy are interdependent” (2006, Educational Technology). This plan was the first step of many, in recognizing the benefits associated with technology and how it relates to education. The Texas Long-Range plan for Technology covered the years 1988-2000 and was one of the first states to develop such a concrete and achievable plan for the future. In 1998, Texas updated their LRPT to one that “provided a vision of education on the frontier of the 21st Century”. Texas took the first step in recognizing that technology was going to be an important part of the 20th and 21st Centuries and decided that it would benefit more if there was a plan of implementation.
