Were native americans able to domesticate food or animals?

Where do you think all that food at the first thanksgiving came from? Of course they domesticated foodstuffs, maize for example. Also squash, legumes and wild rice were all cultivated. If you are lincluding the native peoples of Central and South America, you get plenty of other crops, such as potatoes and animals lith the llama and guinea pig. Animals were not domesticated in the North, wildlife was plentiful for food and easy to tame animals for burden or transport were not available. Why people persist in believing that Native Americans were little more than Neandertals I’ll never understand. Excuse my frustration, I hope I answered your question.
