Carl Edwards’ Talladega Crash Scares, Injures NASCAR Fans April 27, 2009 by Robert Dougherty Carl Edwards is one of NASCAR’s biggest names, with Talladega one of its biggest tracks, and most vulnerable to crashes and wrecks. At least 7 fans were injured at the NASCAR wreck in Talladega. One fan, in particular, is still in the hospital, having sustained facial injuries. Not all fans had to be treated at a hospital. My thoughts go out to the people who were injured. Sources: http://www.google.

Eight fans were injured on Sunday when debris from a crash at NASCAR’s Aaron’s 499 flew into the stands and struck spectators at Talladega Raceway in Alabama. The incident occurred just before the finish line when Carl Edwards’ car was bumped, spun and went airborne into the top of the retaining fence. Debris from the car and fence sprayed into the crowd, but track medical director Dr. Bobby Lewis said none of the injuries were life-threatening. Two women had to be airlifted to Birmingham hospitals. Lewis said one likely suffered a broken jaw and a cut on her mouth. The other was treated for what was called an “unspecified medical condition.” All the other injuries were treated at the track’s infield care center.
