Wedding cake dilemna ….what would you do?
As an experienced cake decorator, let me tell you not to do the cupcake tower! They are really much more work than you would origionally think! Also, since they are top heavy and since you need so many of them they can be difficult to transport, too. I have delivered many cakes for further than 1 hour in the summer and they were just fine. The only concern I usually have with summer wedding cakes is the location of the cake. If it will be outdoors or somewhere warm and humid, you may have to think of alternatives. If it will be somewhere cool or airconditioned, it shouldn’t be a problem. Sheetcakes are the easiest to travel with and usually cost the cheapest, too. So my recommendation is to have a couple of big sheetcakes to serve to everyone and a small, maybe two teir, cake decorated with fresh flowers as your “center peice” cake. You will find that most of the time cake decorators will take the cake to the location in levels (seperate tiers, not stacked) and then assembe it there. T
