We would like to get a Berkey system but don know which size to buy. Can you help?
There are 3 factors to consider when choosing the best size for your needs: 1) How many gallons of water do you consume per day? As a rule of thumb, one person consumes 1 – 2 gallons per day. That adds up to 2 – 4 gallons per day for a couple, and so on. Once you have that figure, you’ll want to purchase a system that will NOT require you to refill it more than twice a day to produce the amount of water you need. For instance, if you determine you consume about 6 gallons per day, the Royal Berkey will be the smallest system you’ll want to purchase as it holds 3.25 gallons. Refilled twice in one day, it would produce about 6.5 gallons.
