A. This ant is most likely the odorous house ant (they get their name from the coconut like odor that is produced when crushed). These ants can nest both indoors & out. They forage for food both night & day, they eat many different types of food but prefer sweets. The colonies can number up to 100,000 ants & produce many other smaller colonies (called satellite colonies) throughout the year. These ants can be controlled by using baits, non-repellant sprays, clearing harborage areas & improving sanitation. However, control can take many treatments, depending on number of colonies.
