We have brown patches appearing in October until the grass dies in December. Could this be due to a fungal infection, too much water, or too little water There’s no trace of insects either.?
The first possible cause would be too little water during summer. Warm season grasses, like kikuyu, need at least 25mm of water per week during the growing season (summer). It also needs 5-6 hours of sunlight per day to grow at its’ best. If your lawn is subjected to shade, do not water too much, since this will create an ideal environment for fungus, since the humidity in these areas are higher. In these areas in your garden, water during the early morning, this will give the lawn enough time to dry off during the day.
