We have been having problems with the core assembly mating connector deteriorating and causing a fire detection system fault condition on our 737-300/-400/-500 aircraft. What is the cause?

A. The high temp, high vibration environment in the core section has caused the mating connector on the core fire/overheat detectors to deteriorate over time. Hi-Rel connector (P/N 44267KS-14S-5SX-924) has been developed to resolve this issue. Boeing has released revised Service Information Letter 737-SL-26-020-A which allows the use of this connector as the preferred alternate part. Contact Hi-Rel Connector Inc. directly to purchase this connector.
