We have a duty of confidentiality to the health care worker and we believe we can contact patients potentially at risk without compromising that confidentiality. How are patients being contacted to be informed of the risk?
Patients identified from the healthcare worker’s patient notes are being sent a letter on Tuesday 30th and Wednesday 31st May. The letter explains the low level of risk and provide a special helpline number for advice, support and to book an appointment for a blood test. Children and some patients – where their GP have advised us to do so – are being contacted directly in person by a member of NHS staff.
