While in the end, it is the teacher that makes the most difference in educating a child, it is a fact that having good facilities is also very important. No matter the exact curriculum used, it is essential to have modern buildings. For years, members of the Carbondale community have recognized and communicated the need for new facilities to upgrade the inadequate Carbondale schools. This bond issue will finally bring the facilities in Carbondale up to the standards enjoyed by the rest of the district. Connecting a bond issue for the long awaited new facilities in Carbondale with transient issues with the district administration and Board of Education is self-defeating. In the long run, the new facilities are good for education, good for our kids, and good for the community. The other issues will come and go, but these facilities will serve the community for the next 50 years.
