No. The Catholic Church recognizes this situation in which some persons decide to live together before marriage, not only in USA but all around the world. We, as Catholics, believe that Marriage is a Sacrament in which the presence of God exists in a very special form. It is a commitment for life in which we invite God to live and remain with us for ever. If we look just statistics about divorce, it shows that people who live together before marriage is more susceptible to divorce and separation. Those couples, who begin to live together after a catholic marriage, remain together longer because they make a covenant with God and each one has been keeping everything (body and soul) to be part of that covenant celebrated in a sacred space in which the community participates and rejoice with them.
