no of course not, most women then did not ascribe to the twiggy shape, she was naturally thin, and even now isn’t exactly fat. Plus people nowadays are eating so much junk food, and that is why the body shape is totally changing. My mother was slim, so were her fermale friends, and they did not gorge or burgers or any junk food, they weren’t in vogue then. Plus is you look through history, women have been influenced by successive fads, and fashion magazines, the 1920’s was the jazz age, where if you look at women they were slim but not really skinny.

Well she definitely wasn’t an advocate for anorexia. Everyone blames Twiggy but really the twenties brought about the slim body figure popularity. Don’t forget corsets.

By today’s standards Twiggy was not that thin. She did not starve herself or work out; she was just “lucky”. Her body was just the ideal canvas to display the fashions of the time – fashions that were designed by mostly men. Slim women were always the favourites of haute couture. Even I’m too young to remember the flappers of the 1920s when thin was in and Wallace Simpson famously said that a woman could never be too rich or too thin.
