Was Tibet really so bad to live in before 1959 as showed in videos link?
Unless you were a member of the ruling class, 1 or 2 percent of the population, yes it was. Most of the people were serfs of one type or another. Lamaseries owned land and exploited the peasants working their land and any type of public discontent was brutally punished with corporal pains including torture, disfiguring and mutilation. What most people in the West think they know about Tibet comes from western media and films which have been politically manipulated. Tibet was never a peaceful kingdom filled with magical Lamas who loved everyone and levitated about the place. It was a feudal country where life was very difficult for the masses and most of the ruling Lamas were anything but spiritual. China has its’ problems but it is trying to bring equality to all of its’ citizens including the Tibetans.
