Was there little passion among English tennis fans for the ladies final?

The fact that the Williams’ are sisters makes it odd for everyone, the commentators, the spectators, and for themselves. There were no great signs of emotion from the sisters because I believe that they are both conscious of offending the other.. no fist-pumps, no glaring stares, no yelling “Come On!” So there was no energy for the fans to feed upon and none for them to return to the court. Even in victory you could tell that Serena felt bad for besting Venus and taking title #5 from her. At some point when they are alone and not together I am sure that one of the sisters will celebrate her victory and the other will mourn the loss. There will probably never come a time where the sisters will look across the net and see the other as an opponent alone… They are family.
