Was there ever a time where man was coexisting with other members of the hominid family( after chimps)?
Adam and Eve were the first humans, created by God. We are all descended from them. God created many different kinds of animals – including apes/chimps etc. The different kinds of animals do not interbreed, but one kind can diversify to give many different varieties. For example the big cat kind has diversified into lions and tigers, which as you note can interbreed. People often confuse this (natural selection, variation) with the hypothesis of evolution. What we observe is that genetic information does not arise on its own. No new gentic information has arisen beyond that which was in the original created kinds. The idea that one kind of animal has changed into another (evolution) is not supported by the evidence or by science. It is really a religious idea. Neanderthal, by the way, were fully human.
