Was there ever a real Achilles or any truth to the story or was he just myth?
Since the “mythical” troy was found to be a real place via the finding of its ruins there is some vestige of truth to the Iliad. Achilles, like many famous and able warriors has had legends built around the truth of his existence. George Washington did not chop down a cherry tree and tell the truth. The fliers of the Layette Espadrille were not fantastic fliers from the first day they stepped into an aircraft. MacArthur was an egoist of tremendous talent, and, he would let men die to achieve unneeded victories.
