Was there a military draft in World War 1?
There were a total of three drafts in 1917 and 1918. A total of 24.3 million Americans were drafted (about a quarter of the population). Of these, about 4.3 million were mobilized, and about 350,000 were casualties, of which about 126,000 were killed. The draft included all men from ages 21-30 in America.
