Was the whole of Africa colonized or were there areas not invaded by the Europeans?

It was nearly all colonized. A couple outposts of African states avoided colonization. Ethiopia and Liberia were the only two countries that were not colonized. Liberia was settled by American expatriots – former slaves, and Ethiopia had been an independent country since prehistory. Most African countries adopted the red, green and yellow of Ethiopia’s flag to show their independence and defiance against European colonization after they won their independence. Also, large parts of the Sahara and Congo were never colonized, although the Belgians tried to colonize the inner Congo (they maintained coastal control and parts of the Congo river) while the Brits and French fought for the more habitable regions of the Sahara. And while Ethiopia was occupied during WWII by the Italians, it was not colonized.
