Was the use of the Atomic Bomb in Hiroshima an act of Terrorism?
Standard answer follows. Ok. assuming that the war needed to be ended and the Japanese would not surrender. For those that claim they were willing to surrender conditionally their conditions were that they keep all of the territory currently in their possession. This was not a viable option There were three alternatives to the Atomic bombing of Japan with it’s attendant 200,000 (approx) casualties Firstly, hold off on the Nukes and bomb the Japanese into submission using conventional bombs. Remember that 120,000 people died in one raid on Tokyo and it appeared to have no effect on the Japanese will to continue fighting. Add to that the vitriol that has been poured out in the last 60+ years over the use of conventional bombing in Europe and whatever was done in the way of bombing would have been attacked by the Bleeding Heart Liberals. So that one cannot be done without people complaining about it in 60 years time Secondly, invade the Japanese home islands where the civilian population
