Was The Rime of the Ancient Mariner (by Samuel Taylor Coleridge) rejected at all before publication?

The Rime of the Ancient Mariner was first published in Lyrical Ballads (1798) a joint collection by Coleridge and Wordsworth. It was published by Messrs Cottle – and as far as I can trace it was never intended (or expected) to be a financial money-spinner. At the time, Coleridge was living off an annuity of £150 a year from Josiah Wedgewood – a renowned patron of the arts. In any case, the Rime was only begun in November of the previous year, and there was hardly time for Coleridge to have hawked it around unsuccessfully.
